TCS Innovation Labs - Mumbai

Research Areas:-
Mobility and Social Innovation | Speech and Natural Language | Performance Engineering / Assurance of computing systems and networks

The research groups in Mumbai work on:-

Mobility and social innovations,  aiming  to be pioneer in providing innovative services to improve livelihood, education, skills and quality of primary healthcare of the masses and to establish leadership in Rural Mobile Human Computer Interface (HCI), in India and the subcontinent. Towards this, the group focuses on developing working prototypes, pilots, research test-beds as well as providing frameworks, models, standards and guidelines for developing rural mobile applications.

Speech and Natural Language Processing, focusing on enabling:
  • Robust speech recognition for different languages that can handle noise, accent and other variations smoothly
  • Voice and speech analytics to identify speaker, language, emotions, etc. over large input sets
  • Extraction of usable information hidden in spoken conversations for enabling actionable analytics
  • Parsing of chunks of text to identify the tasks and intent conveyed in them at a semantic level, together with identifying the relevant entities, objects, and relationships in the domain
  • Multi-lingual interfaces for systems
  • Parsing and translation of documents, reports and system responses in order to enable information correlation and extraction across diverse language resources
