My Interview Experience

Here, I am sharing my personal interview experience which I faced at Nov 16, 2013.

Hello Everyone.

I am Amit kumar gupta from Gurukula kangri university campus. TCS visited our campus for recruitment on November 16th, 2013.

There were 4 rounds in this overall selection procedure. Written Test is a bit tough. Another three rounds TR, MR, HR its of Average.

This year the total selection procedure was quite different and little bit harder. This time they add verbal test. Only 100 out of 400+ students from our college got selected in aptitude test. Finally 50 students got selected by TCS from our college. Luckily I was one of the selected candidates and I would like to share my interview experience with you all : ).

Aptitude& verbal test:

Aptitude: The questions were maximum from probability and time and work, distance etc.

Verbal Test: In verbal test it was easy not tough. In this test they asked to write email (in my case topic was apology for project delay). Minimum 70 words. It has checked by computer. So don't do spelling mistake, grammatical mistake, and one special tip is use all 10 keywords which is given at top of the page.

Technical Interview:

This is d most important round of interview.

Me: May I come in sir?
Sir: Come in and close the door.
Me: Good evening sir. And shook d hands.

Sir: Good evening Amit.
Sir: K Amit tell me about you briefly.
Me: Blah. Blaah. Blahhhhhhh.

Sir: What are your interested areas.
Me: Networks, Operating system, Algorithms, Data Structure etc.

Sir: Tell me interests other than academics.
Me: Cricket, Music, Surfing and etc.

Sir: Who is your favourite cricketer.
Me: Gautam Gambhir.

Sir: Why you like him.
Me: Told the qualities of GG vch are made to make his fan.

Sir: Tell me diff b/w c and java.
Me: Told.

Sir: Why c advanced than java.
Me: Told.

Sir: Explain me OOPS concepts.
Me: Explained.

Sir: Give me any two SDLC models.
Me: Waterfall and iterative.

Sir: Stages of waterfall model.
Me: Also told.

Sir: May I ask about DBMS.
Me: No sir. I have studied it in E1, so I don't remember anything. Then he said k fine.

Sir: What is deadlock?
Me: Told.

Sir: Asked about where deadlock occurs and what areas of OS are having more chances to occur?
Me: Resource allocation and explained with an example.

Sir: He argued with me about deadlock to prove my answer is wrong  and proved my how it is correct.

Then he said your confidence levels are good. [Chillllll].

Sir: Write a C program on swapping without using 3rd variable.
Me: Wrote.

Sir: Diff b/w linked list and array DS.
Me: Told.

Sir: Explain briefly about your Internship project.
Me: Briefed.

Sir: OK Amit I done my side. Do you have any ques?
Me: Sir may I know about currently undergoing projects in TCS?

Sir: Told and wished me Good Luck.  (and he shook hand with me with smile).

MR Round:-

Mostly in this round usually they don't ask technical questions but in my case there was reverse.

Me: May I come in sir.
Sir: Please come.
Me: Wished and shook d hand.

Sir: Please sit.
Questions:

Sir: So Mr.Gupta, What do you about TCS except Wikkipedia?
Me: Told but he is not satisfied with answer n said to me, I m saying except wikki.

Then, i said sorry sir. So he turned to my technical subjects

Sir: Write your interested subs?
Me: I wrote OS, CN, C and DS.

What is fragmentation?

Explain me demand paging?

Explain me about LRU algorithm?

Tell OSI layers?

You are good at vch layer?
Me: I said network layer.

Then he asked me to explain about protocols?

Diff b/w TCP and UDP?

Explain about heap search and quick sort.

What is Dijkastra algorithm and write algorithm.
Me: I explained about algo but said Noo about algorithm.

Sir: I done my side and do you have any questions.
Me: No sir.

Sir: Shook hands with smile and wished me.

HR Round:

Luckily there was madam in my interview Panel.

Questions:

Why TCS?

Rate yourself in communication?

Gave me a paper told to read out and explain me about what that passage tells particular about?

Madam: Do you like watching movies?
Me: Yes madam (excitedly).

Madam: Tell me about recent movie you have seen.
Me: I told.

Madam: Do you have stage fear and can you give presentation in front of crowd?
Me: Yes mam.

Madam: Your weakness?

Madam: Are you flexible to work and relocate?
Me: Yes ma'm [ felt chillll asking this question. ].

Madam: Do you have any current backlogs?
Me: NO.

Madam: There will be BGC verification. Do you aware of compensation and bond agreement?
Me: Not completely mam.

She explained me and asked do you have any questions?
Me: NO.

She shook hand and wished me good luck with smile.
