Life after ILP in TCS

So what next?... Well after completion your ILP you need to report to your respective IOU/ISU RMG (Resource Management Group) in your base location. Basically RMG's are the people who will share your profile for getting you into some project. So RMG will ask you to attend project interview.

Basically projects are of three types:
1) Development and Maintenance
2) Support
3) Testing(Manual&Automatic)

Development and Maintenance projects involves lot of coding. Most of the projects were already developed. You need to add or modify new functionalities based on requirements. 

Support projects involves regular interaction with clients, fixing of minor issues and analyse the results. 

Manual testing is simple testing where test cases are provided to you and you need to check whether the application satisfies respective test cases or not. These projects are taken if you are require Automatic testing to work on testing tools. It involves some coding like Development projects.
  • Which ever project you join, do remember that learning should be your only goal. You should learn rather than work. Learn about complete application, maintain good relationship with other associates and manager, writing effective mails and good presentation skills.
  • Revise your ILP content before attending any project interview. Focus on the basics of your ILP stream in which you have been trained. Add-on are always welcomed by interviewers, but go for it only if it is asked by your interviewer.
  • Ask the details of project during project interview like type of technology on which you are going to work, project timings, location, training period, opportunities.
  • You can also reject projects if you did not like but it is not recommended as you may end with bad project than the previous. Better take your first project only. Rejecting projects can lead to transfer of location also as RMG will be in trouble if more people under them are in bench without projects.
After you join project and if you find difficult to survive then you can come back to RMG and request for a new project.

ONE IMPORTANT THING !!!
Irrespective of what kind of project you go for whether it is a development , maintenance, support, testing.
Don't think that you cannot progress or go far in your project. It all depends on you, how you are enhancing your learning. Testing requires a developed application. A good application is one which you can maintain with ease. Support is required for execution of live websites.
So every kind of project has its own importance.

Just don't go for call center kind of thing. It can only help in improving your communication skills.

How to do resign TCS (TCS resignation formality)

Hello Friends, *** Resigning TCS formally *** The hectic documentation process you did during your joining, should be reversed over here too (Sadly, its not over yet). You have to find the person to contact for Resignation.  Login to your Ultimatix account,  go to  HR Managemement->  Employee Self Service->  Workflow.  You will get the name and email id of the person to contact for the same. Put in a mail to the person, and he will get back to you soon via phone and email to redirect you to the further procedures (Make sure you include your phone number in the mail). After getting the details of the new person, go and meet him/her.  There are two important things to keep in mind before release-  A month's prior notice, or else you will have to pay the basic pay of the rest of days. i.e., for example you want to leave the company on Aug 10, and you inform it at the beginning of the month(Aug 1).
