Referral Drive in TCS

What is Referral Drive?
Every company has internal openings for which they ask the employee of the company to refer people they know and then the company invites those candidates referred by the employees to appear for their selection process. Only candidates referred by the employee is sent call letter to appear for the selection process.
How does it work?
Company sends email to the employee. Employees receive a mail from the company about the opening with them. The mail contains the job description and the eligibility criteria required for that job. Job Seekers sends resume to employee. All the job seekers need to contact employee and send them their resume to refer. Employee refers them. Once the employee receives the resume, he refers the candidate in the company portal Company invites candidates for Interview. The company directly invites the candidate referred by the employee to appear for the selection process.
Frequently Asked Questions:
1) Is it necessary for employee to refer the candidate, can we not apply directly?
No, Referral drive is only for candidates who are being referred by the employee only. There is no other way that you can apply for such drive.
2) How will we come to know that we are referred?
Some company like IBM, HP sends acknowledgement mail that you are being referred but some companies like Infosys, Aricent doesn’t send any acknowledgement mail that you are referred. They send the call letter directly.
3) Is it compulsory that we will get the call letter once we are referred?
Few companies invite everyone who is eligible to attend the drive whereas some companies like Infosys, IBM, Capegemini doesn’t invite every referred candidate to attend the drive. They shortlist the candidate who are referred and invite only the shortlisted candidates for drive.
4) What is duplicate entry?
Sometimes when employee try to refer candidate the system returns Error “Duplicate Entry” which means that the candidate has already been referred by someone else for the drive. Sometimes it happens that if the candidate has registered in their website they still get the same error.
5) Is getting referred by employee effective?
Yes, the chances of getting the call letter to attend the interview are very very high since all the company gives priority to the candidates who are referred and already known to the employee.
Suggestion for Job Seekers :-
Referral Drives are the best way to get interview calls and one of the best way to enter into a company. In Off campus there are thousands of student appearing for the test so competition is too high but in case of referral drives, there are limited number of students are limited so chances of getting selected are high. Try your best to find referrals and if eligible don’t miss such opportunities.
